The Jerome Township Board of Trustees formally agreed to fund a new comprehensive plan and land-use update during a Tuesday night meeting.
Trustees Bob Merkle, Ron Rhodes and Andy Thomas unanimously approved a resolution to follow a recommendation by the Jerome Township Zoning Commission to enter into a contract with Bird Houk Collaborative to complete the comprehensive plan and land-use plan.
Under terms of the agreement, the township will pay Bird Houk up to $50,800 for its services.
The decision to update a partially completed 2004 plan by Burns, Bertsch & Harris was made after new developments including the 1,350-acre Jerome Village project were proposed in the township.
The 15-to-20-year master plan for Jerome Village calls for as many as 2,200 residential units with an average density of 1.7 units per acre. The development would include 1,500 single-family homes and 600 to 700 condominium and townhome units. Prices are expected to range from $175,000 to more than $1-million.
