Case Study

Dublin Coffman High School Gym Replacement

Dublin, Ohio

Bird Houk Collaborative was commissioned by the Dublin City School District to research replacement options for the gymnasium floor at Coffman High School. The 14-year old floor was failing, and numerous ‘dead spots’ were negatively impacting its performance. The District asked that BHC make a product recommendation based on price, performance, and durability.

After researching available options, the Anchor Flex LP Floor System was selected. This system is highly resilient, has uniform playability and consistent shock absorption to reduce injuries to athletes. Additionally, the high quality appearance of the floor is consistent with that of the Dublin City School District. A unique element of the design is the ‘Boston Square’ pattern at the center of the gymnasium. Based on the basket-woven look of the flooring at Madison Square Garden, it is one of the only floors of its kind in an Ohio high school.
